Become a Volunteer Counsellor with CASY.

We offer volunteer opportunities for qualified or trainee counsellors, studying towards their Level 4 Diploma in Counselling. For trainee counsellors, these placements could be in secondary schools or from our office in Newark. Unfortunately, at the moment we are unable to offer placement opportunities for trainees looking specifically for adult hours (18+).

CASY’s fantastic success is down, in part, to the incredible effort provided by our placement volunteers. We are very grateful for the contribution made by volunteers and in return we provide a safe supportive environment with excellent development opportunities.

What we offer

Our Commitment to our volunteer counsellors includes:

  • Excellent experience of working with children in school and office settings
  • Core Programme of training within first year, including:
    • Induction
    • Safeguarding
    • Working with Young People
    • Note-keeping/Extranet Training
    • Working in Schools
  • Ongoing support and peer supervision opportunities
  • Subsidised ongoing training opportunities

Qualified Paid Work

We do have paid opportunities at CASY for qualified counsellors and if you are interested in joining our bank then please get in touch. We do like to work with newly qualified counsellors on a volunteer basis first so we can get to know them and they get to know us. Typically, this would be three hours per week in the office and then any work over and above that would potentially be paid.
